What Happens During an Eye Exam: A Closer Look at Flagstaff Vision

FV Jun2025 accessibility Blog 904 V1Is Flagstaff Vision accepting new patients?

Yes! Flagstaff Vision is currently accepting new patients for both routine and medical eye care. We welcome children, teens, and adults with personalized, professional service.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

All new patients should bring their insurance card. If you’ve completed your pre-appointment forms online (sent via email), you’re all set. Otherwise, please arrive 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork in the office.

What happens before the eye exam?

Once you check in, one of our team members will either:

  • Take digital retinal photos of your eyes,
  • Or prepare for dilation during your exam, depending on age and medical history.

These pre-tests help the optometrist assess your eye health thoroughly.

What happens after the exam?

Your optometrist will walk you through the results and then introduce you to one of our opticians. From there, we’ll help you:

  • Select the perfect frames
  • Take measurements
  • Order contact lenses (including trials for new wearers)
  • Book follow-up appointments or contact lens training sessions

How long is the appointment?

  • Routine exams: Around 30 minutes
  • Medical visits: Around 45 minutes

The total visit time may vary depending on how long you need to choose frames or undergo additional testing.
